Dorothy "Dot" Wingfield Turner, 92, of Woodbury, MN, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Sunday April 14th, 2019. Dot was one of eleven children born to Webb and Pearl Wingfield on October 19th, 1926 in Martinsville, VA. Dot married Henry Turner and lovingly raised their four children in Williamsburg, VA and moved to Anderson, SC in 1970. She moved to Woodbury, MN in 2004 to be near family. Dot was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and she lived her life with her faith and family at the center. She was a star basketball player in high school and her tenacity, speed, and bright green eyes earned her the nickname "Tiger".
Dot is survived by her daughter Cathy Flynn (Steve) of Valencia, CA and their children Spencer and Megan; son Robert (Merri) of Carlsbad, CA, and their children Allison and Rachel; son Greg (Debbie) and their children Brittany Ross (Ian) and Christian of Woodbury, MN, sister Chris Gregory of Martinsville, VA; and brothers Carl Wingfield of Martinsville, VA, and Bob Wingfield (Mary Alice) of Chesapeake, VA. Dot was preceded in passing by her husband Henry, son Henry Jr, sisters Virginia Frith , Bea Atkins, Janice Gregory, Carolyn Hallum, Arbutus Wingfield, and brothers Vernon and Bernice Wingfield , and granddaughter Shelly Turner.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Stoneleigh Estate, 375 Edgewood Drive, Stanleytown, VA at 11am on Friday, June 14th, 2019. Internment of ashes will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Martinsville. In lieu of flowers, contributions to The Salvation Army, 2445 Prior Avenue, Roseville, MN 55113 would be appreciated.
