Douglas Holden

Douglas Harold Holden was born October 3, 1943 in Chicago to Caroline Noel Holden and Charles Harold Holden. After high school he worked as a forester, then served in the Air Force from 1964 - 1968. After discharge, he served as a police officer, subsequently entering graduate school at NDSU. In 1981 he married Nancy Lubka. A dedicated environmentalist, Doug loved taking daily nature walks. On April 14, he suffered a hard fall during a walk that caused severe injuries, leading to his death on May 22. Doug is survived by his wife Nancy, sister Betty Swan DeLong, niece Jennifer Swan, and many other family, friends, and fellow political activists. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 14 at 1:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Society of River Falls.
