Born in Providence , RI on August 24, 1927, Will passed away peacefully at his home with family on September 5. Preceded in death by grandsons, Keegan William and Owen Michael. Survived by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Dorothy; daughters, Col. Meg Czapiewski (Mike) and Mary Wright; son, Bill Salesses; grandchildren, Savannah, Tierney, Tanner, Tyler and Austin; brothers, Gen. John Salesses (Delores), Peter Salesses (Susan) and several nieces, nephews and devoted friends who touched his life. Will received his undergraduate work at Providence College , RI and the St. Paul Seminary. He taught English, instrumental and vocal music in the Lignite, ND schools and became Superintendent of Schools. He went on to teach in Libby , MT and San Bernardino , CA . He earned his MA and PhD degrees in Counseling, Psychology and Social Foundations of Education at the Claremont (CA) Graduate School . He served as Professor and Chair of the Dept. of Education, USD (CA), Professor of Philosophical and Psychological Foundations, UP (OR), Director of Supervised Teaching, UCSB (CA), Ass't Dean, School of Education, IUP (PA), President, Mary Manse College (OH) and from 1975-1999 was Dean and Professor of the School of Education at the University of St. Thomas. Will was very active in the field of education serving as a member or chair of multiple visits for NCATE, MACTE and BOT. He served on many committees, initiated several innovative programs, and was very dedicated in mentoring the graduate students at St. Thomas . He was an instructor, consultant and advisor at the Alfred Adler Institute of MN and Cardinal Stritch College (WI). Will was active in the Rotary Club, serving as Pres. of St. Paul Rotary and District Governor 5950. He was Vice Commander of the North Central Region of the Civil Air Patrol, a member of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve and President of the Sierra Club of St. Paul Midway. A man of great faith, he served his church as a member of the Parish Council, Finance Comm., as Eucharistic Minister and his favorite, as Lector. He was devoted to the Little Sisters of the Poor, volunteering time and attending Mass until his health prevented his presence. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10:30AM at HOLY FAMILY CHAPEL, LITTLE SISTERS OF THE POOR, 330 So. Exchange St . , St. Paul . Visitation Friday 4-8PM at BRADSHAW, 678 So. Snelling at Eleanor. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Little Sisters of the Poor.
