Pederson, Dwight Lyman

Born January 30, 1938 at the family farm near Osceola, Wisconsin; died peacefully and joyfully December 4, 2020 at home. Preceded in death by son, Chris. Survived by his wife of 59 years, Marion; daughter, Denise Sjoberg; grandchildren, Laura, Thomas and Helayna; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Elaine Pederson; niece, Michelle and nephew, Kirk (Molly) Pederson; and great-nephew, Max. Dwight was a kind, gentle, patient, humble and pious man of faith.  His Norwegian Lutheran farmer upbringing served him and all who knew him so well.  Active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater, he led several groups and was always available to fix or make anything the staff might need, whether it was a bookcase or the use of his bobcat or other machinery to move dirt and make things happen. Dwight was known for his exceptional woodworking skills and made most of his family's furniture. He and the family spent much of their time together at their 80 acre farm, which has been in the family since 1872.  Thanks to the ancestors for settling on a homestead that included 1000 feet of lakeshore, the farm is also the family lake home. A long-time executive budget officer of the state Department of Finance, Dwight was known around the Capitol as the guy with the pointy cowboy boots and the beard.  He was a good steward of the state's resources.  He maintained his friendships with his work friends until the end. Dwight provided care for wife, Marion, through her journey with Alzheimers until late 2019, when she moved to memory care, giving all he had to keep her home and happy.  They had a wonderful life together. A private graveside ceremony has been held; a party to celebrate Dwight's life planned for this summer at the family farm/lake home. Very special thanks to caregiver and earth angel, Jessica Teissen, for her care and love the past year. Thanks to CareAParent and Lakeview Hospice for their excellent care.
