Fierke, Edwin William (Bill)
Age 91, passed away on February 23, 2018. Preceded in death by wife, Betty and sister, Barbara Christ. Survived by sister, Winnie Summers; daughters, Susan Fierke and Carol Fierke (Neil Tweedy); son, John (Anne Marie) Fierke; and granddaughter, Sara Tweedy.
Bill served in the Navy at Seattle, Washington during WWII, and then attended Hamlin University where he was president of his fraternity and captain of the swim team. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in business administration. He worked at Shell Oil for a few years where he learned about the fuel oil and gas station business and made a number of lifelong friendships.
Betty and Bill moved from Minneapolis to Stillwater where they resided on Lily Lake for 50 years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1957 where he served as a stewardship leader and a Sunday school teacher. He was a partner in the local Stensing and Fierke gas station and fuel oil business for many years, after that he worked as the sales manager for Orrin Thompson homes.
Bill was an avid trout fisherman who spent many weekends walking the streams of Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was an extremely competitive tennis player and skier, and at one point was hoping to go to the national NASTAR amateur ski races before an auto accident ending his skiing days. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and a charming friend.
Graveside Service: Tuesday February 27, 2018 at 1 PM at Crystal Lake Cemetery, 3816 Penn Avenue North, Minneapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to FamilyMeans.
