Egil Jakob Svennevig
Born in Eide, Grimstad Norway on September 5th 1936, Died March 11th 2025 in Shoreview, MN. He was 88. He grew up in Eide, Norway on the family farm called Enge. He attended school and got a degree in forestry. He served in the Royal Norwegian Air Force, where he attained the rank of corporal. He came to the USA on an agricultural exchange program, where he met his wife Jane. They resided in Beloit WI, where he worked at Alliant Energy (previously Wisconsin Power & Light) as a line distribution engineer for 30+ years. He was an avid photographer and woodworker. He taught Norwegian language classes at Blackhawk Technical College and was an active member of St Paul Lutheran church for over 40 years. He was an outstanding father and teacher, who prioritized his Norwegian culture and language and instilled those values in his children.
Although he was in a lot of pain due to advanced parkinson's disease at the end, his daughter provided him with the utmost comfort in her home for the last month. His passing was very peaceful and he was surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years Jane E. Svennevig. He is survived by his son, Kristian J. Svennevig; and daughter Turid Svennevig- Brosi (Andrew Brosi); his twin grandchildren, Solveig Svennevig- Brosi and Jaeger Svennevig-Brosi; and his brothers in Norway, Tom Svennevig and Arnfinn Svennevig.
A memorial service and funeral will be held in Grimstad Norway at a later date.
