Betty Marsh passed away peacefully on October 31, 2023 at St. Therese Senior Living at St. Odilia in Shoreview, Minnesota on her 98th birthday.
Betty was born on October 31, 1925 to James and Lilly (Cox) Raymond in Omaha, Nebraska. She was the fifth of eight children in a very close family who loved and cared for one another.
She married Harold Marsh on July 27, 1946 at St. Cecillia Cathedral in Omaha, NE. They became parents to six children: Mary (Charles) Dahl, William, Cathy (David) MacKenzie, John (Barbara), Joan (Mike) Sager and Lawrence.
Harold and Betty lived in Omaha, NE; Richfield, MN; San Diego, CA; Eugene, OR and back to Omaha where Harold passed. Betty and Harold enjoyed their travels throughout the continental United States. She enjoyed reading and sharing books, especially romance novels that had a “happy ending”. Betty held a deep love for her family and always placed their needs above hers. Following Harold’s passing, Betty moved to a senior living center in Stillwater, MN to be closer to family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Harold, son William, daughter Mary and her parents and siblings. After Betty’s passing her son-in-law Mike passed away on March 15 and her sister Joy on March 5 of this year.
In addition to her children Betty was survived by her grandchildren Erik Dahl (Melissa), Nils Dahl (Cathy), Megan MacKenzie, Colin MacKenzie, Michelle Sager, Chad Loosmore (Laura), Ryan Marsh (Katie) and Jason Marsh. She was blessed with eight great grandchildren Calvin, Lana and Rachel Pansch, Griffin and Marlee Loosmore, William and Claire Elizabeth Marsh and Alexis Dahl. She was also survived by her son-in-law Charles Dahl (Kathleen) and her many nieces and nephews.
Betty was a very warm, faith-filled and welcoming woman who enjoyed her family and friendships. She was so proud to have eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and they gave her such joy. In the weeks leading up to her passing she said “I am saying the rosary every day, to be certain I will be going up and not down.” Mom, you were our model for faith, goodness and love, and no doubt you went “up.”
A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 423 5th Street South in Stillwater, MN with a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Ft. Snelling, Minneapolis, MN where Betty and Harold will be interred.
Arrangements entrusted to Bradshaw Funeral Home, Stillwater, MN.
