Elizabeth Wiese

Elizabeth Ann Wiese (nee Kesselring, Porter) Centuria, Wisconsin October 4, 1949 ? September 23, 2008 On September 23rd Beth Wiese, 58 years young, passed fearlessly from this world and onto her next adventure. At peace with dying, her only wish was for more time with those she loved and more chances to continuing exploring the world. She was preceded in death by her mother Florence Kesselring, sister Cecilia Shumski and first husband and the father of her children James Porter. Beth is survived by her husband and best friend, David Wiese; her father Cecil Kesselring of Fairmont, MN; her daughters and their families, Amy Porter and Ken Anderson, Alyssa and Derrick Johnson, and her two beloved granddaughters, Payton and Kaiya Johnson, who were the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Barb and Warren Landin; mother-in-law Dorothy Wiese; step-children Ana and Ryan Volovsek and Alexandra Wiese; many other close family members and an abundance of friends. She received her B.A. in sociology from Hamline University in 1973 and her Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota in 1981. In 1973 she began her life-long career as a social worker. For 15 years she worked with social service agencies assisting children and adults with developmental disabilities achieve quality lives and advocating for their rights. In June 2008 she retired from her position as school social worker with Osseo School District #279 after 20 years of helping students and their families. Beth had a zest for life that was contagious. Her natural curiosity and deep intellect fueled her passion for understanding the world. An avid scuba diver, gardener, reader, Scrabble player and world traveler, she rose to life?s challenges and helped others to realize their potentials. Laughter, compassion and a strong sense of justice were her trademarks, as was her playful nature and ability to deeply cherish those she loved. The world is both a better place for having had her and a sadder place for having lost her much too soon. A Celebration of Beth?s life will be held at the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd. (NW corner of Hwy 36 and Co Rd. 5) in Stillwater, MN on Sunday, September 28th at 3PM . Family to greet friends one hour prior to service. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Dearest Queen, Beth, Effie, Mom, Encourager and Nana?we are so lucky to have had you in our loves. You are deeply, deeply missed.
