Ellen Marie (Sherman) Lockwood

Age 79 of Shoreview, MN passed away on Friday, March 28th, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin LeRoy Lockwood; parents H.E. "Bill" and Evelyn Sherman; sister in law Claire Taylor-Sherman; and nephew Ryan Gesler.

She will be sadly missed by her son, Steve Lockwood of Kyle, TX; siblings Douglas Sherman of St. Paul, MN, and Carol (Mike) Gesler of South Haven, MN; 23 nieces and nephews; and many other beloved family and friends.

Ellen was born on August 2nd, 1945 in Red Wing, MN. Her first home was Zumbrota, but the family moved to the Twin Cities about 1948, where she spent most of her life.

She graduated from St. Anthony Village High School, and went on to the University of Minnesota - Duluth, where she earned a degree in History. During her four years in Duluth she fell in love with the city and Lake Superior.

After graduating, Ellen returned home and took a job at Burgess Publishing in Minneapolis, where she met her husband Marv. They were married in 1968, and had one son, Steve. Ellen worked many years in the insurance industry as a claims processor. She retired in 2010.

Over the years, the family enjoyed many trips to the North Shore of Lake Superior as well as the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. She never tired of watching the ships and visiting the many waterfalls. Ellen's other passions included astronomy, history, following sports, and reading (especially the "Outlander" books and TV series, of which Jamie was a favorite).

Her death was very sudden and unexpected, and she will be greatly missed.

There will be no funeral service.
