Eloise Sampson

Eloise Ann Sampson, age 85, was called home peacefully on October 26, 2017 surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Eloise was born on June 12, 1932, in Glendive, Montana, to Elmer and Agnes Benson. She grew up in Thief River Falls, MN and graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1955 with a degree in nursing. She and Henry (Hank) Sampson married in 1954 and settled in Stillwater, MN. Eloise enthusiastically supported Hank's civic involvement in the St. Croix Valley. They both cherished their Norwegian heritage and involvement with the St. Croix Valley Syttende Mai Society.

She treasured her ten grandchildren and celebrated their achievements. As a grandmother she was known for her thoughtful gifts and crisp $1 bills for each year of age on their birthdays. She loved her nursing profession - faithfully organizing reunions for her nursing class for over sixty years. She remained fascinated by the weather and was always up-to-date on current events. A hallmark was her kindness and generosity, placing the needs of others ahead of her own.

Eloise is survived by her three children: Greg Sampson, Mark (Louise) Sampson and Julie (Mark) Arend; ten grandchildren: Daniel (Jenna), Paul, Luke, Jessica, and Sarah Arend, and Rachel, Ben, Liz, John and Scott Sampson; plus her siblings: Agnes Schlichting and Joyce Gockel. She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Sampson.

Service Wednesday, November 1, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater with visitation one hour prior to the service.
