Elvira Gruett

Elvira Olga Gruett, age 89, of Hugo, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 12, 2022.

Preceded in death by her parents, George and Esther; husband, Arnold; step-children, Toni and Jeff (Bonnie); and sibling, Georgia (Stan).

She is survived by her daughter, Laurie; granddaughter, Lauren (Clay); great-grandchild, Finn; step-children, Gary (Kathy), Michael (Cindy), Kathy and Steve; sibling, Wayne (Roberta); and multiple step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Elvira and Arnie spent many wonderful years at their hobby farm in Hugo. For decades, she also demonstrated her many talents at Pine Tree Apple Orchard, from apple sorter to bookkeeper. Relationships with friends and neighbors were important to Elvira, especially her dear friend Kathy, and she loved being a grandparent and great-grandparent.

After a stroke two years ago, she was able to reflect fondly on her life stating: I’ve lived a wonderful life. We have had a wonderful life together. And you will continue to have a wonderful life when I am gone.

She will be remembered for her dedicated, loving, and uncompromising approach to life. Her family and friends will miss her deeply.
