LePage (nee Eastwold)
Esther Elizabeth
Age 94 of Lake Elmo
Died November 16, 2014
Survived by children Corinne LePage Shaw, Roberta LePage McFadden, Charles LePage, Lisa LePage Floden, and Thomas LePage; thirteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by Robert LePage.
Born in a sod house on the South Dakota prairie, raised in a small town in southern Minnesota, Esther earned a chemistry degree from St. Olaf College and the University of Minnesota. She then worked as a bench chemist at 3M where she contributed to the creation of electrical tape, her name being one of those on the patent. At a bridge party of 3M employees she met Bob LePage, whom she soon married, sharing 59 years of loving and spirited partnership. In 1951 they moved to a Lake Elmo farmstead where they raised their five children. They enjoyed updating the old farmhouse, doing much of the work themselves. Esther was a devoted gardener, especially of hybrid lilies, an avid tennis player, an enthusiastic skier and a perfectionist seamstress. She was a devoted member of Lake Elmo's Christ Lutheran church for 63 years. The memory of her ready laughter will lift the spirits of all who knew her.
