Fetene Effa Feyisa was born to his father Pastor Effa Feyissa and his mother Aadde Jaalle Fufa on August 22, 1963, in Qellem Wellega’s Hawa Galan district of Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia. He was one of the seven children born to his parents, who keenly served at Mekane Yesus Evangelical Lutheran Church of Dembi Dollo. Born to a god-fearing family, Fetene’s humility and humble beginning to grow into a man of character that he was, goes back to his upbringing nurtured by these servants of God.
Fetene attended Kellem Comprehensive High School in the same town as his elementary years and completed his Grade level education in 1981. Fetene attended Polytechnic Institute of Bahr Dar located in North Western Ethiopia from 1981 to 1983. Then he graduated with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983. Upon graduation, he was, subsequently, employed at Gondar College of Medical Sciences (currently Gondar University’s Medical College) where he served for nearly four years that lasted from 1983 to 1987.
Fetene won a scholarship to study abroad at the Technical University of Ilmenau located in the State of Thuringia, Germany from 1987/88 to 1994 where he received the Degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering. In 1997 he moved to the USA, during his years in the U.S., Fetene has positively touched many lives that earned him love, respect, and appreciation. He was a man of an exemplary character, caring, altruistic, a pleasant human being to interact with under any circumstances, and extraordinarily intelligent, though not noticed by many, simply because of his, inherently, calm character of reservation. He was loyal to his community, friends, coworkers and to anyone who came to his doorsteps in life.
He has worked for ARKRAY USA as a Chemical Processing Technician since 1999 until his last working day of March 12, 2021. He also worked for Wells Fargo Home Mortgage for more than a decade until he, voluntarily, left the real estate finance company to pursue other opportunities. Fetene was a loyal, hardworking. and very disciplined employee that earned him respect among the rank & file of the companies he has worked for.
He is known for his helping hands and a soft heart among his family and friends circle as well as in the wider community when it comes to shouldering responsibility for the wellbeing of everyone he has encountered. A father to Abdissa Fetene Effa, a sibling to his biological brothers, a son to his parents, and a priceless friend to many around the world that dearly adored him, Fetene Effa Feyissa passed away on March 15, 2021, in Eagan, Minnesota, leaving a son, multiple family members and innumerable friends behind.
May your soul rest in eternal heavenly Peace!
