Frances Dunlap

d. June 26, 2004

Dunlap, Frances W.

On June 26. Clan leader of six children, 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; elegant, protective, opinionated, generous, fun-loving, caring, tenacious. She tended to her garden and whistled to the birds, adored babies, loved a good cup of English tea and a sip of Scotch, found delight in collecting Early American glass goblets, playing a hand of bridge, and igniting an impassioned debate favoring Republican politics. She was a rock of strength, a trusted confidant, a spitfire. Fran was proud of being Mrs. Roy J. Dunlap Jr. and the mother lion to her cubs. Her friends adored her, and she always had ready words of wisdom, comfort, or a gentle admonishment to ?snap out of it.? She died peacefully at home surrounded by love. Surviving are children Michele Grantham and husband Joe, Manhattan, Ks.; Roy J. Dunlap M.D. and wife Jane, Stevens Point, Wisc.; Patricia Dunlap, Stillwater; William Dunlap and wife Mary Pat, St. Paul; Dana Dunlap Massopust and husband David, Stillwater; Elizabeth Hersey and husband Keith, St. Paul. She was the beloved ?Ga? to grandchildren John, Jeff, Amy, Blake, Roy, Piper, Jennifer, Lindsay, Molly, Megan, Jane, Alex, Kelsey, Lauren, Kate, Grace and great-grandchildren Lily, Drew, Solomon, Evelyn, Lorelei, Miles. She is preceded in death by her husband, noted columnist, speaker and editor Roy J. Dunlap Jr., and two great-grandchildren Madeline and Jack.
