On May 4th, beloved son, big brother, grandson, and friend to all, Garret Edward Westby, 27 passed away tragically and unexpectedly. Garret is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Roger and Mary Zellmer, his first dog Leine, and his favorite dog Rema.

He was known by many names - Garret, Gare-Bear, Gar, G, G-Man, The Bro, Rico, Bobay, Harold, and Gary. He graduated from Stillwater High School, attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and the University of Wisconsin – River Falls. Garret has been a cherished individual of the family company, Turnkey Corrections and 32Market, since he was 14 years old. Where he was not only an exceptional colleague to many, but a friend to all. Garret joined Cantaloupe in the last year, where he had been recently promoted.

His happiest place was at the family cabin on Lake Vermillion. His favorite time was spent with family and friends: fishing, playing cards, sharing and listening to music, bonfires, boat rides, and bags. Whether it was hunting, golfing, fishing, or cheering on his Minnesota Vikings with his dad, Garret was a Minnesota boy through and through.

A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Friday, May 10, 2024 at Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater. The funeral will be at 11:00am Saturday, May 11 at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1583 Radio Drive, Woodbury, with visitation one hour prior and a luncheon after the service.

In lieu of flowers, all memorials will be donated to the nonprofit Vermillion Lake Association to help preserve G's favorite place in the world.

The family is grateful to all who have reached out, and shared memories and thoughts of Garret. He was a great son, amazing brother, an all-around awesome guy, and loved by so many. He was taken from us too soon and we will remember him forever. We love you Gar.
