Gary Allen Bier, age 68, of Minneapolis, MN passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. Gary was born on November 6, 1955 to Adam and Gladys (Ryle) Bier in Robbinsdale, MN and grew up in Minneapolis. Gary attended Marshall High School in St. Paul. Gary worked as a dispatch operator for Metro Transit for 38 years. He proudly served as his union rep for the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1005.
Gary met his love, Christine, while working as order takers at Metro Mobility and they enjoyed 42 years together. Gary enjoyed watching sports, particularly football and baseball. Gary loved science fiction and crime dramas. Gary always had a dry joke or comeback at the ready, followed up by his sly grin and chuckle. Gary coached wheelchair basketball and floor hockey through the Courage Center.
Gary is survived by his children Renee Haberle (Keith) of Osceola, WI; Nathan Bier (Elizabeth) of Greenwood, WI; and Jessica Hulke Boardley; his grandchildren Collin Haberle, Connor Haberle and Paige Gates (Jordon); his siblings Raymond Bier (Janice), Melvin Bier (Muriel), Ervin Bier, Pamelia Hartzmann Bier, and Irene Fink. Gary is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, other extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Christine Bier.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, July 27 at Bradshaw Funeral Home 3131 Minnehaha Ave S, Minneapolis, MN. Rev. Joy McDonald Coltvet will preside. Family and friends are welcome from 12:00pm until the start of the service. All are invited to remain for a meal and fellowship following the service.
