Gavino Inocencio Roque
Born February 10, 1942
Died August 16, 2003
Gavino was born in the Phillippines. He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco Curz Roque and his mother, Flaviana Inocencio. He is survived by daughter, Evelyn Nguyen; her children, Lucas, Daniel and Gabrielle Van; his son, Arthur Nguyen, and his children, Michael, Samantha and Silena Nguyen; and his daughter, Rosemarie Clark.
Gavino came to the United States in 1998 and was looking forward to obtaining his U.S. citizenship. He had worked for the famous Air America, from 1965 to 1968 and again from 1973 to 1975. He was very proud of his service with them. He was involved in the successful evacuation of many Filipino as well as their Vietnamese families through the use of helicopters when Saigon fell to the Communists in 1975. With the contacts he had with his work, he was able to see that his own family was safely on board a helicopter taking them to a ship headed for the Phillippines. He himself had to elude capture in Viet Nam, making his way back to his home in the Phillippines where he lived until coming to the United States. Gavino was baptised as a Christian in his youth and held an abiding faith in God.
