Windus, Gladys Lawson

Age 95,on April 30, 2006. Former MN Dept. of Public Welfare worker who began the system of homemaker services in the 1950?s. In 1963, she joined the Children?s Bureau of the U.S. Dept. of Health Education and Welfare in Washington D.C. as the first specialist in homemaker services. After retiring in 1973, she returned to St. Paul. Preceded in death by first husband, Kennard Lawson; second husband, Ray Windus; sisters, Julia Lundin & Florine Bergstrom; brothers, George & Harold Slaughter. Survived by sister, Jane Taylor; many nieces & nephews. She touched the lives of many and she will be deeply missed. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2006 at 4:30PM at Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington, 9889 Penn Avenue. Memorials preferred to the Presbyterian Homes of Bloomington Bridgeway Community.
