Brolander, Glen Earl

Faithful servant of the Lord, devoted to his family and friends. Age 84, of Stillwater.
Glen passed away peacefully on March 15, following a lifetime of blessings.
Born Dec. 14, 1929 in Rockford, IL. He earned a B.S. from Univ. of IL, and M.A. in College Business Management from the Univ. of KY. He was a Korean War Army Veteran. He had a wonderful 39-year career at Augustana College, Rock Island IL, serving as Vice Pres. for Financial Affairs when he retired in 1992. A campus courtyard was named in his honor in 2003. Glen's personal passion for Swedish activities led to many dedicated roles of leadership. He served as Chairman of the Swedish Council of America and Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center, President of the Swedish American Historical Society, Augustana Chapter American Scandinavian Foundation and led the Western Illinois Committees for Visits of King and Queen of Sweden, 1976 & 1988.
His Lutheran faith was at the heart of all he did. He served as Church Council President and other various committees at former congregations in IL and SC. He was Treasurer of the Northern Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Glen & Elaine are members of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stillwater.
Involvement in the community was important to Glen. He served as President of the Rock Island Chamber of Commerce, Rock Island United Fund, Illowa Boy Scout Council, and the Lutheran Hospital Board in Moline, IL. Up until his death, he was an active member of several committees at Boutwells Landing.
Significant awards included Eagle Scout, BSA Silver Beaver Award, Order of the North Star, Sweden, 1998 Swedish American of the Year, 2012 Swedish Council of America Great Achievement Award, and 2013 Swedish-American Historical Society Carl Sandburg Medal.
Glen delighted in history, writing, genealogy, world travel, fishing and stamp collecting.

Preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Verona Brolander of Rockford, IL. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 54 years, Elaine, son Randall (Donna), daughter Sheryl (David Johnson), grandchildren Yvonne, Hanna, Tryg, Lars & Britta and great-grandchildren Ethan and Logan.
