Glennys Ekman

Glennys L. Ekman (nee Bradshaw) Age 73, of Minneapolis, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on April 23, 2015 as a result of cancer. Survived by her husband of 49 years, Glenn, children, Philip (Rochelle), Sarah (Cary) Foss, and Priscilla (Johnny) Byrne; 9 grandchildren; beloved brother Jim (Jayne) Bradshaw, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Glennys grew up in south Minneapolis, and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1959. She went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree in Teaching, and was a special education teacher at various school in the metro area. In 1966, she married Glenn Ekman, of Minneapolis. Once her children were born, she stopped teaching to be a mom, and homemaker, but decided to return to teaching when her kids had moved away.
Glennys loved to have company, and was happiest when her home and dinner table was full of family, friends and ministers. She wanted to have everyone around her to have their natural and spiritual needs met, and did her best to help them. Glennys never knew a stranger, she was a true "Mother in Israel" taking care of people around her, and showing kindness to neighbors, students, and even people she had just met.
Glennys loved to china paint, and spent many hours on her various pieces, making them perfect. One of the highlights of the year was the annual trip "to the beach" in North Carolina. There for a week or more she relaxed, played with the grandkids, and enjoyed the salt air.
One could not have a conversation with Glennys without noticing her spirituality. Everything in her life revolved around serving God, and loving His people. She was a true example of a selfless person, always helping others around her, and keeping an open home.
Service Saturday, May 2, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 and Co Rd 5), Stillwater. Visitation Friday, 5:00-8:00 P.M. and also one hour prior to the service. Private interment Sunset Memorial Park.
