Gregory Johnson

Gregory Walter Johnson, age 84 of Stillwater, passed away peacefully at home on May 29th, 2022.

There is no story long enough to say how much we loved Greg and what a gentle person he was. He was beloved by everyone who ever met him; a fantastic father, grandfather and great grandfather, a loving husband, brother and son and a best friend to all.

Born on January 12, 1938 to Kenneth Johnson and Lucille Johnson (Allemani) in Stillwater, MN. Greg is predeceased by his wife Barbara. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Lee; and his children, Chris (Sharleen), Andrew (Loukia), Lynn (Marlin) Murphy, Lee Anne (Gregg) Schaefer, Andrew and Steve (Celine) Morrow; his grandchildren, Hailey, Taylor, Jordan, Sydney, Ryley, Charlie, Joe, Lily, Sophie, Elle and Beatrice; great grandchildren, Kolie, Madisyn and Lance; his brothers, Dennis (Mary), and Terry (Roxie), sister Linda (Bob) Schulz; as well as his many nieces, nephews and an abundance of friends.

Greg graduated from Stillwater High School, the College of St. Thomas, (BA, M Ed, M Math, and Ed Specialist) and Marquette University (MS). As a lifelong learner he did further graduate work at the University of Minnesota and extension classes in both Minnesota and Florida. Greg spent his working life as a math teacher, principal and operator of the family business. He was adequate at most jobs, good at some and excellent at others, especially calculus and loading the dishwasher!  A lifelong passionate tennis player, Greg was fair, respectful, caring, forgiving and always patient both on and off the court.

Greg believed in sharing many words of wisdom with his family and friends over the years; his favorite being, “People need loving the most, when they deserve it the least”.

A celebration of Greg's life will be 11:00 Central Daylight Time Wednesday, June 8 at BRADSHAW, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater, with visitation one hour prior.
