H. Lawrence "Larry" Schaffer
1951-2015

Larry was born to Luverne and Lillian (Raway) Schaffer, the oldest of five children. A lifelong resident of Hastings, he graduated from Hastings High School in 1969 and went on to study offset type printing at Saint Paul Technical Vocational Institute. In 2008 he completed a 33 year career at Andersen Windows in Bayport. While Larry was a bit gruff on the outside and fiercely independent, he was always the first person to step up and help anyone who needed it. His talents in woodworking and auto repair touched many over the years, as well as his quick, sarcastic wit. Preceded in death by his parents, he is survived by his children, Melissa (Joshua) Stokes of St. Louis Park, and Michael (Leah)Schaffer of Lake Elmo; former wife, Vickie Haugen; his siblings, Valerie (Bruce) Buske, John (Ruth) Schaffer, Stephen Schaffer, and Janet Holub, as well as two grandchildren and eight nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life to be held Thursday, April 16th from 4:30 to 7:30 at the Green Mill Banquet Hall, located on the first floor of the Premier Bank building, 101 10th St. E, Hastings, Minnesota. Light hors d'oeuvres to be served, short service at 6:45. Private interment on the island of Kauai. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
