Our beloved father, grandfather, and friend, Harold R. Breed Jr., affectionately known as “Harry” and “Buzzy,” passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024. He was born on February 4, 1938, to Harold R. Breed Sr. and Dorthea and was the youngest of four siblings.
Harry grew up in St. Paul, MN, graduated from St. Paul Johnson High School in 1956, where he excelled as both a hockey player and student. After high school, he joined the Army and spent a couple years of service with an honorable discharge.
Soon after the Army, he met the love of his life, Margaret (Peggy) Ristrom, and they married shortly thereafter. Together, they raised four wonderful children: Naomi, Mark, Christine, and Brian.
In the early years of their marriage, Harry and Peg moved to Hibbing, MN, where he worked for over 25 years as a salesman for Paper Calmenson Steel Company. There, they built a beautiful life, surrounded by many lifelong friends who became like family. Harry was an avid golfer and member of both Mesaba Country Club in Hibbing and Northland Country Club in Duluth. After many happy years in Hibbing, they returned to the Twin Cities, settling in Stillwater. They were longtime members of the Episcopal church in both Hibbing and Stillwater. His love for the outdoors was evident in many fishing and hunting adventures, as well as perfecting his golf game in his retirement years (particularly at Indian Hills Country Club and New Richmond Country Club). Harry also had a huge passion for woodworking and took great pride in maintaining a beautiful yard along with his love Peggy.
Harry cherished spending time with family and friends, and he and Peggy were always there to care for their beloved grandchildren. Harry is survived by his daughter Naomi (Jeff) Price, son Mark, and son Brian (Jenn), along with his grandchildren Molly, Michael, Aidan, Bryce, Kevin, Eve, Blake, and Ellie. He joins in heaven his loving wife, Margaret, his daughter Christine, and many other cherished family members and friends.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the nurses and caregivers who provided comfort to Buzzy throughout his journey. Your loving kindness is greatly appreciated and certainly provided a source of strength and peace during this difficult time.
