Iantha LeVander was preceded in death by her husband, Governor Harold LeVander. She is survived by her three children, Hap (Carla) LeVander, Jean (Tom) King, Rev. Dyan (Rob) Lawlor; four grandchildren, Blair King, Laura (Mark) Peters, Eric (Rebecca) LeVander, Wade LeVander; and four great-grandchildren. Iantha was born in Milwaukee, raised in St. Paul and lived in So. St. Paul. She graduated from the U of M, taught speech and English in Glenwood City, WI and Stillwater HS. After marrying Harold LeVander (who was her brother's speech coach at Macalester), she devoted herself to family and community. She was an active board member of St. Paul AAUW, So. St. Paul PTA, U of M Alumni, SSP Educational Foundation, Dodge Nature Center, and Campfire. Iantha was the WCCO Good Neighbor and Minnesota Mother of the Year. Her political activities included campaigning for her husband's gubernatorial bid, restoring the Governor's Residence, spearheading the Vietnam Memorial Garden, and serving as Minnesota's Republican National Committeewoman. Noted for her wit and positive outlook, she inspired people of all ages and backgrounds. She enjoyed her mature years at Presbyterian Homes in Inver Grove Heights and was deeply appreciative of the exceptional staff at Presbyterian Homes of Roseville. A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 3 at 4:00 P.M. at GLORIA DEI LUTHERAN CHURCH, 700 South Snelling Avenue, St. Paul. Family will receive friends following the service. Memorials are preferred to LeVander Scholarship fund, SSP Education Foundation; Dodge Nature Center, W. St Paul; Presbyterian Homes Foundation, Arden Hills; LeVander Scholarship, Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, MN.
