Chevalier, James F.
Passed away on January 18, 2020, age 93. Survived by children, Anne (Angus) McKechnie and Jim (Amy) Chevalier; grandchildren, Annelise, Caryn, Gwynn, and Hailey; siblings, Bill (Gerri) Chevalier and Helen (Jim) Wagner. Jim graduated from Cretin High School, 1945, and served in the United States Navy, 1946. He then graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Accounting, 1950, and William Mitchell College of Law, 1954. Jim retired from Honeywell after 40 years of enjoying his work in executive positions including personnel director, director of administration for the commercial division, director of administration for protection services and building services divisions, as well as contracts counsel for the commercial buildings group. Outside of work, he had many adventures traveling, especially to Mexico and South America, sailing in Florida and the Caribbean, and on his fishing trips up North. Of course, Jim loved most being at “the lake” where he hosted family and friends on Lake Wapogasset for nearly 60 years. He was an avid reader of historical and non-fiction, and closely followed the news on current events and world politics. Football and golf were mainstays, with decades of season tickets for the Vikings games and leisure play on the greens. Jim was much loved for his jovial spirit (including a plethora of interesting anecdotes), his organized, level-headed approach to problem-solving, and his kind heart. He will be greatly missed. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, January 30, 10:30 A.M. at CHURCH OF ST. PASCAL BAYLON, 1757 Conway St., St Paul. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to University of St. Thomas or Mass intentions for Jim.
