Of Dellwood, MN, passed away Monday, January 1st at the age of 72. After growing up in Starbuck, MN, graduating from Concordia College, earning his MBA from the University of Minnesota, and achieving the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), he embarked on a lifelong, fulfilling career in investment management. He especially cherished the time and relationships from his 35 years at Lutheran Brotherhood. Jim was an active volunteer at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church serving on both the Church Council and the church's Foundation. He also served on numerous investment committees including the St. Paul Area Council of Churches and the Fairview Foundation. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest... people were his passion. He deeply valued his friendships and never turned down a conversation. He loved sharing his passions of fishing, golf, and Minnesota sports with his family and friends. Passing on traditions to his granddaughters brought him great joy. Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, children Lisa (Tim) Coy, Chris (Tonia) Walline, sister Judy (Marty) Oleson, grandchildren Hannah, Lauren, Emma, Abigail, and baby girl coming soon, and many other relatives. Preceded in death by his parents Maurice and Ruth Walline. Memorial service Friday, January 5,, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Visitation one hour prior. St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi, MN. Memorials preferred to the St. Andrew's Foundation or Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
