Loving husband, father and grandfather
Devoted American, husband, father, uncle and friend. Wounded WWII Veteran. Reunited with his wife of 54 years and the love of his life on March 20. J.P. was born on February 2, 1923 at Neelys Landing, Missouri to Lester and Ora Whitledge. In 1942, J.P. was stationed at Fort Snelling on his way to the Philippines to fight with McArthur. He met Dorothy Weinberger when he was home on leave in 1942 and surrendered his heart to her for life. J.P. worked as a mechanic at Midway Ford for 33 years after the war. Survived by children, Edward (Anne) and Claudia Whitledge, LaCenter, WA; grandchildren, Colleen (Rich) Reisdorf, Jason and Jeff (Monica) Thompson, Gillian Whitledge, Richard Alderson, Ryan and Mariah Whitledge; great grandchildren, Richie and Kaela Reisdorf, Rylie and Haley Whitledge; brother in law and best friend, Robert Weinberger; niece, Glenda Rumfeldt; nephews, Butch Whitledge, Mark and Bruce Weinberger. Preceded in death by his wife and soul mate, Dorothy; sister, Charlotte; brothers, Edward and Lynn and parents, Lester and Ora. J.P. promoted work ethic and honesty in his children and grandchildren. May God help them be half the person he was.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Wednesday March 26 at the CHURCH OF ST. BERNARD 197 West Geranium. With gathering at 10 a.m. Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Calvary Cemetery
