James Sherman Doyle
Jim was born in Maywood, IL. to Gladys and Bert Doyle on May 27, 1931. While in hospice care Jim passed on October 16, 2020 in New Richmond, WI. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Clyde; sisters, Teresa, Dinie; and son, Bert . He is survived by his wife, Terri of 69 years; and sisters, Ethel and Joan.
Jim lived a full and challenging life. He served in the military and was stationed in Greenland. After college, marriage and a family Jim and Terri moved their 5 children from the Chicago area to Minnesota. Jim worked for 3M for more than 32 years from1969 to 1987 and was among the first U. S. businessmen to conduct business in China. He retired as an International Marketing Manager.
Jim enjoyed being a scout master and he coached and helped start a junior football league. He loved boating and fishing at their lake home. In his retirement he even found the time for 3 holes-in-one!
Marie Lydia “Terri” Doyle (nee Meyer)
Marie was born in Chicago, IL on January 1, 1934. She passed peacefully under hospice care at her apartment on November 16, 2021. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jim and her son, Bert.
She was a dedicated mother. After her children grew older, she began working at Stillwater High School as an English Resource Aide. Marie enjoyed their lake home as well as spending time on the St. Croix River. She and Jim loved acting in amateur theater. She was an avid gardener and reader and cherished the company in clubs centered on those activities. She always enjoyed dressing smartly. Marie and Jim enjoyed entertaining in their home which Marie spent countless hours creating a vision of her beautiful house.
In 1951, Jim met Marie (Terri) Doyle at Elmhurst College in Elmhurst , IL. They married in 1953 and had 5 children. Jim and Marie will be sadly missed by children, Art (Carol), Ed (Nancy), Howard and Laura; grandchildren, Andrew and Haley, Kylie and Joe, and Meghan; great-granddaughters, Viola and Thia; Marie's sister, Ruth Kromholz; other family and friends.
A celebration of Jim and Marie's life will be Sunday, March 13, 2022, 2:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard, Stillwater, with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior to the service
