Jean Glabe

d. September 3, 2016

Jean Carol Glabe returned home to her Savior on September 3, 2016. Jean is survived by her children Polly Nelson (Dwight Christensen), Eric Nelson (Andrea), Ann Zappia (John), Ivar Nelson (Karen), and Gunnar Nelson (Helen); grandchildren, Quinn, Maxwell, Zachary, Haley, Jimmy, Grace, Anders, Alex, Stefan and Sage; great grandchildren, Penelope, Hazel, Bo, Maya, and Harlow; and nieces and nephews she loved as her own.

Jean was born July 23, 1930, the youngest child of the Reverend Edwin Buckley Glabe and Flo Glabe. She grew up on Minneapolis West River Parkway at the end of the lane now named for her father. After raising her children along the Saint Croix River south of Marine on St Croix, she returned to South Minneapolis where she lived for 30 years until falling ill in 2013. She was cared for until her death by the kind staff at the Episcopal Homes of Minnesota in St. Paul, and Our Lady of Peace hospice.

Jean was an exceptional cook and gifted seamstress, these were her passions. She spent countless hours creating beautiful, handmade outfits for the children in her life and often for their dolls as well. Anyone who had the pleasure of enjoying her delicious meals and scrumptious desserts can attest to their legendary status. She loved to do these things for her family and her friends.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2PM at MOUNT OLIVE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3045 Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment Lakewood Cemetery.
