Jetty Elonore Willemina Leasure (nee Assink), born in The Netherlands on September 8, 1937, died Monday, June 10, 2024 in Bloomington, MN at the age of 86.
Jetty emigrated to the United States in 1964 and became a naturalized US citizen in 1981. She worked in the printing industry, specifically graphic design and illustration, for decades before retiring in 2006.
Jetty was a lifelong advocate and supporter of the arts, and had a profound respect for nature with encyclopedic knowledge of plants. She built many gardens in her various homes including an award-winning backyard oasis that was featured in a Minneapolis magazine.
She was strong, independent and creative with a unique artistic flair that inspired others to "think outside the box."
Anyone that knew Jetty was also impressed with her cooking. She enjoyed exploring ethnic cuisine and was endlessly inventive. As one observer wryly put it: it takes less than two minutes before the conversation turns to food!
She is survived by her siblings Marianne Cordes (Jim), Maarten Assink, and Christine Landahl; three children, Derek Leasure (Julie), Kim Snyder (Ryan), and Carmel Leasure (Justin); along with grandchildren Kyla, Maia, Dakota, Evan, and Elena. She was preceded in death by her parents Hendrik and Aleida Assink, brother Benno Assink, and grandson, Jacob Leasure.
Jetty's children would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Minnesota Masonic Home in Bloomington for their compassionate care to our mom. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 3 from 1 - 5pm at Bunker Hills Activities Center, located in the Bunker Hills Regional Park, Andover, MN.
