James Donald
Age 75, died August 3, 2018 in Maplewood, MN.
Born in Winthrop, MN, Jim was the son of Edwin and Gertrude Groehler. After high school, Jim went into the Navy where he worked as a radio operator. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Civil Engineering. He worked at the Minnesota Department of Transportation and contributed to the design of many regional airports in the state of Minnesota. After retiring, Jim enjoyed golf, bowling, and playing cards with friends. He was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Jim was an intelligent, complex, and private man who will be remembered for his quick wit and humor. He dearly loved all his grandchildren who brought out his fun and playful side. Jim is survived by his 3 children, Richard (Lisa) Groehler, Kristine (Filip) Mulier, and Tom (Kay) Groehler; and 6 grandchildren. He is remembered with love by siblings, Lois (Jim) Duvick, and Bob (Sara Jo) Groehler; nieces, nephew, and Susan Groehler. Memorial Service Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at BRADSHAW, 4600 Greenhaven Drive & Highway 96 (one mile west of 35E). Visitation one hour prior. Interment Fort Snelling national Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Red Cross or the American Lung Association.
