Joan Louise Ellison, age 64, of Minneapolis, MN passed away November 3, 2021 after a courageous 6-year battle with ovarian cancer.
Joan grew up in S. Mpls graduating from Washburn High School in 1975. She then attended and graduated from Mankato State University in 1980 where she met her college sisters who have remained her life-long friends.
Joan started her career in the Twin Cities Manufacturing industry. She settled in at Fluoroware/Entegris, Inc. in 1993. Joan worked as a Business Analyst specializing in SAP. This provided her the opportunity to travel the world to Entegris facilities where she made many friends and experienced various cultures. She loved her co-workers and teammates. Joan retired in 2015 after working for Entegris, Inc. for 22 years.
Joan met the love of her life, Patricia Roth in 1986. They built their partnership, life, and love over the next 35 years. They celebrated with family and friends in 1996 (Commitment Ceremony) and legally married in 2013.
Joan loved all the Minnesota sports teams and she played many sports herself throughout her life. She was inducted into the Mankato State University Athletic Hall of Fame as a 3-sport athlete -Basketball, Softball & Volleyball.
Joan loved to travel and see new places but she was truly happiest when spending time with family and friends up at her lake home. She loved her dogs, cats, and was an avid bird watcher. Joan also enjoyed working on the Minnehaha UMC Solar Committee and working the MUMC Food Shelf with her friends. Joan’s nieces and nephews were very important to her & she was so very proud of them all! Throughout her life, Joan enriched others by forging deep and lasting friendships and she will be greatly missed by many.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Robert Ellison.
She is survived by her wife Patricia (Pat) Roth, her siblings Victor (Carol) Ellison, Judith (Nathan) Bostrom, Alexandra (Chuck Tomlinson) Ellison, and her aunt Ruth (Mike) Melges.
