Passed away surrounded by family on August 6, 2023.

Joel was a 1969 graduate of North Saint Paul High School. He then went to serve in the National Guard for 6 years. After completing his service, he worked as a painter at 3M for 38 years. He was an accomplished woodworker, outdoorsman and loved his annual fishing trips to Lake of the Woods. His ultimate joy in life however, was spending time at home with his family.

Joel is preceded in death by parents Edward and Donna Sandstrom; and brother John Sandstrom.

He is survived by wife of 46 years Eileen Sandstrom, sons Matthew (Brynn) Pariseau, Todd (Marina) Pariseau, Jim (Akiko Rutledge) Sandstrom, daughter Joleen (Brandon Fox) Sandstrom, grandchildren Mia, Mitchell, Haven, Christian, Hayden, Edward, Halee; sister Julie (Steve) Maleitzke and many nieces, nephews, extended family & beloved friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Stillwater (2800 Curve Crest Blvd). A public visitation will begin an hour prior at 10 AM.
