Joel Warren Harvieux

October 25, 1948 — December 2, 2024

Joel was born in East Saint Paul, Minnesota to Nester and Inez in 1948. Shortly after his birth his family moved to Stillwater, Minnesota where he grew up and attended Stillwater High School. Joel was the youngest born of four brothers, Gary, Dave, and James. Joel was a career Minnesota Army National Guardsman serving from 1967 to 1999. Joel loved all Minnesota sports, especially football. He loved to attend live games and was a season ticket holder for the Gophers and the Twins for many years. In his free time, you could find him fishing, bowling, riding his Harley Davidson, and working in his yard. Joel officially retired from work in 2010. In his retirement, his neighbors in Oakdale could find him on his front porch daily smoking a cigar, where he would wave at passerbys and frequently yell at speeding motorists to slow down. Joel was forthright in his beliefs and did not have an issue telling anybody how he felt. Joel held many nicknames, mostly he was known as "Buck" to his friends. But was lovingly referred to as the "lawn-fairy" by the neighborhood children for having the greenest yard in the neighborhood. Upon hearing this Joel would say, "no-no lawn king." Joel referred to himself as the "commandant of Oakdale" as he was known by all to hold court in his lawn chair on his porch daily.

He is survived by his brother, James; children, Matt (Dawn), Andrea (Ephraim), and Jacques; grandchildren, Piper, Briella, Khylan, and Ben; yellow labrador, Tugg; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
