John "Jay" Arthur Schafer Agger
Age 65, of Roberts, WI
Passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, February 18, 2019, in Stillwater, Minnesota. Born March 1, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois to Marilyn Adele and John George Schafer. John passed when Jay was six and was adopted by Ray Karkow Agger, who provided for a wonderful childhood in Mt Prospect, IL and at the Agger Farm in Spring Grove, Illinois where Jay was happiest. He spent his days fishing, swimming, boating and enjoying the outdoors. Many of his childhood passions followed him into his adult life, and allowed him to find peace and comfort throughout many of the obstacles he faced during his life.
Jay was an extremely passionate man, who dedicated his career to the Minneapolis St. Paul Airport. A tenured employee of twenty-seven years, he was a Field Maintenance Worker and the Lead Plow Driver of the Runway Snow Team. He worked very hard, but also made sure to enjoy himself in his down time by indulging in a variety of interests. Jay often chose to express himself through artwork and had a knowledge of many mediums. He spent much time with his camera, creating the most beautiful abstract pieces. He had a robust collection of blown glass, paintings and ceramic works on display in his home. Jay was also a wild man, going to see bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who and the Rolling Stones. He was a daredevil riding his Harley, captained his boat on the St. Croix River or Lake Superior, and always sought new forms of excitement. Jay had a youthful enthusiasm about life and is remembered forever in our hearts with a smile on his face.
Jay was selfless. In work and play, Jay helped those in need any way that he could. He donated countless hours at the Courage Center and Children's Hospital. Jay's heart was so large. He put others before himself all of his life. Jay has made a lasting, loving impact on those he has left behind.
Survived by sisters, Pam (Cliff) Hansen, Joy Agger, Diane (John) Robertson; nine nephews and two nieces.
