Born on July 7th, 1938, John "Pat" McLean lived a full 86 years of life. He died peacefully on January 26th, 2025, content to meet his Creator. As an Irishman born in Michigan, Pat enjoyed a good meal of meat and potatoes and cheering on the Detroit Lions. After high school, he enrolled in the military for three years and served in Korea, where he brought pastries to the frontline. Pat returned home and met his wife on a double date-even though she wasn't his date. The pair hit it off and married on St. Patrick's Day. Shortly after, Jan gave birth to their two children, Kris and Kirk. Pat put himself through engineering school and went on to work at 3M for 30 loyal years. He has traveled everywhere from Hawaii to Minnesota's North Shore, where he and Jan enjoyed fierce Scrabble games and long walks. He was an avid golfer, adventurous hunter-as told by the many hog and caribou heads on his wall-and dedicated follower of Christ. Pat had an uncanny ability to make everyone feel special, with just a wink or a hug, and his humorous attitude towards life will be passed on for generations.
Pat is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jan; children, Kris (Mike), Kirk (Leah); grandchildren, Jenny (Buck), Jamie, Brianna, Cole, and Lauren.
His memorial service takes place 2pm Monday, February 10th at Woodbury Lutheran Church - Oakhill Campus, with visitation beginning one hour prior. Memorial preferred to Woodbury Lutheran Church and Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch.
