John Edward Paone Sr., 90 passed away peacefully Oct. 24 at his home in Mounds
View. He was a longtime member of the Lions Club International and served as
District Governor from 1979-1980. John served on the fundraising committe
for the University of Minnesota Eye Clinic's Journey For Sight campaign. He
had a passion for the cause since his daughter was born visually impaired. A
WWII veteran, John served two terms on the Mounds View City Council and also
recieved a special award from the DMV for having a perfect driving record.
He continued driving until just six weeks before his death. John was a
member of the Italian American Club of Minneapolis, Toastmasters and was
involved with the Boy Scouts for many years. He had a long career as
a real estate agent and appraiser. He is preceded in death by wife, Mildred;
parents Frank and Mary Paone; brothers Joseph, Dominic, Albert, William,
Russell and sister Catherine. Survived by children John Jr.,(Sue) Gary and
Janet, along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral
service 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Bradshaw Funeral Home, 4600
