Spindler, John J. (Jack) Shorewood, Minnesota Died December 24, 2008 at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Charlene, whom he married in 1952. Also survived by son Peter J. Spindler and daughter Elizabeth Halsall (Tom) and their two children Jack and Alexandra; brother Peter G. Spindler of St. Cloud and sister-in-law Ruth Spindler of White Bear. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Janet Spindler and brother Gordon Spindler, Jr. Jack was born in St. Paul, graduated from St. Paul Central High School and Macalester College. He received a commission in the United States Navy from OCS in Newport, Rhode Island. After a very short time in the Navy, cut short by an accident, he entered the investment business. He remained in the investment business until his retirement in 1997. He served on several corporate boards of directors and was at one time a board member and Chairman of the Board of People Serving People, which at that time was the largest provider of shelter for the homeless between Chicago and Los Angeles. Jack enjoyed travel, gardening, fishing, cartooning and writing children's books. He was delighted to have his book "The Dancing Zok" recently published. There will be a memorial service at the House of Hope Presbyterian Church, Summit at Avon, St. Paul, MN December 29, 2008 at 11:00 am. Any remembrances should be sent to the donor's favorite charity.
