Beloved husband, dad, grandpa
Passed away February 9, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Rosalie; children, Deanna (MarkMark) Black, Anthony (Peg), Terence (Katherine), Shawn (Jolene), James, Angelee (Alex) Santoni; grandchildren, Arielle (Jeffrey Shaw) Black, Shanna Black, Marissa (Alan Tachequi) Black, Leia Black, Mallory (Jon) Stewart, Lisa (Jacob) Olson, Michelle (David) Kilgore, Gina DeMaio, Tayla Santoni, Aislinn Santoni; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by parents, Clarence and Helen; sister, Joyce; children, Douglas, Andrew, Angela, Lilisa; grandson, Anthony DeMaio.
Roger spent his career as a programmer and systems analyst with Unisys, which fed his intellect and interest in technology. He also cultivated an interest in politics and government, and he was a gifted storyteller; he had an uncanny ability to detect the truth and detail of a story. Roger had a strong catholic faith and loved connecting with people. First and foremost, however, was his devotion to his family, and the love of his life, Rosalie“Roy”. He lived all aspects of his life with dedication.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11am Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at ST. ODILIA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 3495 Victoria St N, with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Luncheon at the VFW Post 6690 in Mendota beginning at 2pm. Memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic Medical Research for heart disease or cancer.
