Jon "Thauie" Thauwald

Jon “Thauie” Michael Thauwald, age 56, passed away on April 23, 2024, in Mahtomedi, Minnesota. Jon was born in Maplewood, Minnesota on September 28th, 1967.

Jon is preceded in death by his father, Jeffrey Thauwald Sr. He is survived by his mother, Jacqueline (Swenson) Thauwald; brothers, Jeffrey Jr. and James (Bridget); daughter, Emily (Jack Behnke); grandson, Soren; and many other relatives and friends.

Jon attended Mahtomedi High School, and worked for York Drywall for many years as a sheet rocker. Jon was hardworking, and a selfless man when it came to his work. He was an avid fisherman; his favorite spot to visit being the Boundary Waters. His love for sports followed with him throughout life. He was a multi-sport varsity athlete in high school, played on a softball league as a young adult, and continued to follow Minnesota sports.

Jon will be missed immensely, but is now at peace.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge (Minneapolis). Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge was a big part of Jon’s journey in life.

The Funeral Service will take place at St. Andrew's Sanctuary (900 Stillwater Road in Mahtomedi) on Thursday, May 9, at 12 noon with a visitation beginning one hour before. All are invited to the luncheon following the service.
