A Celebration of Life

Joyce Marie (Peterson) Ritz, a vibrant soul who brought joy and entertainment to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024, at the age of 81.

Known for her infectious laughter and zest for life, Joyce (aka Ma Ritz, Mirtz, Pete) was the quintessential hostess with the mostest and the life of the party. Her love of family, friends, and good times was evident in everything she did. A passionate mother, grandmother and friend, she cherished the time spent with her loved ones.

Joyce found solace in the waters of her beloved St. Croix River. She was an avid golfer and cribbage player, knitter and community participant, spending countless hours engaging in her hobbies and charities. Her passion for fun and games was matched only by her love for socializing with her friends.

Joyce will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were touched by her warmth, kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering spirit.

A special thank you to the staff and family at October Cottage in Scandia, for caring so deeply for Joyce in her end of life transition.

A memorial service will be held on September 28, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, 150 Fifth Street, Marine on St. Croix, MN. Visitation at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am, lunch following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, an organization whose mission was deeply important to Joyce.
