Judith Ann (Nelsen) Furrer, age 85 of White Bear Lake, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2023 surrounded by family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and LaRayne Nelsen; son, Curt Alan Wohlwend. She will be deeply missed by those who survive her: her husband of 53 years, Paul Furrer; children, Dawn Furrer, Mark (Julie) Wohlwend, Lisa Shervheim-Heikkila, Julie (Jason) Powell, Libby (Casey) Tijerina, Gary (Rhonda) Furrer, Scott Wohlwend, Wade (Debbie) Wohlwend, April Petersen; 26+ grand- and great-grandchildren; siblings, Linda (John) Hurt, Jeffrey Nelsen, John (Nancy) Nelsen, Mary Beth Scott; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Judy graduated from High School at St. Joseph’s Academy, St. Paul, 1956. She earned her BA degree at University of Minnesota with a GPA of 3.85. She was an educator at Inver Hills Community College and pursued her passion as an advocate for women’s rights. She volunteered as a coach for girls’ sports at Phalen playground in St. Paul, and the Winter Ice Castle at Phalen Park. Judy started a travel business and she and Paul did lots of traveling. Judy adored Paul, and they made a great team.
Judy was smart, loving and charitable to all.
Visitation 10AM and memorial service will be 11AM Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at ST. ANDREW’S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. Memorials to Red Cross preferred.
