Judith E. Stone

Of Stillwater, August 18, 2023 Left this world on her terms, at home, lovingly cared for by her husband David.

She was born and raised on the East Side, separated by minutes from her twin sister Janice. Life was never dull for their surprised parents, nor the many friends and family members throughout their early years who knew them only as a pair, at Gethsemane Lutheran, Hazel Park, and Harding High School.

At only seventeen she caught the eye of classmate David Stone, and their first date turned into almost 58 years of love and adventures large and small. Son Eric arrived two years after they married and daughter Kim just a year after that. She was self-deprecating and funny and led by example, earning her nursing credentials and later her bachelor's degree, all while raising a family.

When the kids left the nest, she and David traveled to places on and off the map, by motorcycle, train, car, small airplane, and boat, often with Jan and her husband Don. Still, her favorite place was home. She delighted in watching her grand- children grow and loved them beyond measure – David, Benjamin, Kate, Sigrid, and Tor, all of whom had grandma-created nicknames. To her beloved nieces Holly and Stephanie, she was simply "Auntie."

She will be so missed by all of us. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Arthur Dale and Bernice Van Duren.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 6 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stillwater, with visitation at 10:00 and service at 11:00, luncheon following. Memorials may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.
