April 7, 1950 – November 3, 2024
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Karen Marie Younkin, beloved wife, mother, and friend, on November 3, 2024. Born on April 7, 1950, in Northfield, Minnesota, Karen touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness and humor.
Karen found fulfillment in her work at IBM and later at Rental Research, where she worked until her retirement in 2019. Her warmth and quick wit made her a cherished colleague and a joy to be around.
A true sweetheart with a playful spirit, Karen enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—like walking her favorite Lake Nokomis with her family or playing a quick game of badminton in the front yard. Her top priority was to make others happy through her actions.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Doug Sr.; her loving sons, Doug Jr. and Todd; and her siblings, Adrian Hagen and Teresa Bellis.
She will be remembered not only for her kind heart but also for the joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Her presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A visitation for Karen will be held on November 18th at 11:30am at Bradshaw Funeral in Minneapolis, followed by a brief service at 12:30pm (also at Bradshaw), & finally a burial at Fort Snelling national cemetery at 2pm.
