Kate joins the Lord following a 4 year battle with Appendicil Cancer. Kate is survived by her husband Bruce (Daughters Maggie and Savannah), Mother Carol, Father Jim, Brother Mace and Family (Eve, Claire, Reed and Rachel), Sister Laura and Family (Tom, Alex, Sarah, Anthony, Jeff, Becky, Sydelle), Mother in Law Judy, Brother in Law Adam and Family (Linda, April and Ivey) Sister in Law Elizabeth Lo and Family (Wyman and George) and many other Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and too many friends to mention. Born as a Christmas Baby on December 22, 1965 in Edina, MN, Kate grew up in Edina graduating from Edina H.S. in 1984. She moved on to college at the University of MN-Duluth where she met her husband Bruce. Kate transferred to the Twin Cities Campus of the U of MN where she graduated with a focus on Audiology. Kate always had a special way with people which led her to the St. Paul Technical College where she received a professional designation as a Sign Language Interpreter. She used that degree as both a self-employed interpreter along with working at Century College as an Interpreter and Teacher. Kate married Bruce on April 13, 1991 and lived in Minneapolis by Lake Harriet before Bruce was transferred to Chicago for work where they lived for close to 7 years and had their first daughter, Maggie. After moving back to Minnesota, Kate and Bruce had their 2nd child Savannah. Kate most cherished time with her family, Maggie and Savannah's school and sports lives, knitting, and time on the lake in White Bear, Ottertail and Minocqua. Kate touched many lives and made many friends via her travel and activities in Chicago, Duluth, Twin Cities and Minocqua. She will be missed by all but welcomed by many as she continues with everlasting life. We all love you Kate! Service Monday, November 10, 11:00 A.M. at ST. ANDREW'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 Stillwater Road, Mahtomedi. Visitation Sunday, November 9, 2:00-5:00 P.M. at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Boulevard (NW corner of Hwy 36 and Co Rd 5), Stillwater and also one hour prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Kate's name is being set up to support families dealing with cancer. Please make checks payable to the Kate P. Smith Memorial Fund.
