Passed away peacefully on December 9, 2021 at the age of 93.

She was born in Ely, Minnesota on August 14, 1928 to Arvid and Josephine Larson. Katherine met her match, her prince and her best friend, Arthur Nyman, when he returned to Ely after serving in WWII. They married in Ely, then moved to Minneapolis where they graduated from the University of Minnesota with degrees in education, both enjoying long and rewarding years in the North St. Paul-Maplewood School District 622.

Katherine is survived by their two daughters, Cynthia Coon (Gary) and Marsha Larson (Eric); five grandchildren, Ryan (David), Evan (Julia), Jenna (Kouri), Alec (Lindsey), and Aron, and two great granddaughters. They miss her already. Katherine’s trademarks were her wit and her sense of humor. She was a bright light with endless energy for her family, her friends and her students.

A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the 622 Education Foundation/Angel Fund (622educationfoundation.com) would be greatly appreciated.
