Kathryn "Kate" (Keating) McCarthy

Kate McCarthy, 68, of Stillwater, MN passed away peacefully May 1st , 2015 of breast cancer. Half Irish and all German, Kate laughed easily and worked tirelessly. She was a compassionate listener and a loyal friend who would be there for you in whatever way you needed.

Kate enjoyed sharing her home with friends and adored spending time with her two young grandsons. She attended St. Joseph's Academy and was just two weeks away from her 50th class reunion. After high school she went on to graduate with a degree in Humanities from the College of St. Catherine.

In her mid-40s, she became dissatisfied with her career path as an office manager. Looking for a way to nurture her soul and be of service in the world, she decided to return to university for a graduate degree in elementary education. The former "Kathy" McCarthy became Kate, a passionate educator for 20 years in the South St. Paul School District and champion of the International Baccalaureate program.

Kate is deeply missed by her husband of 45 years, Bill McCarthy; her children, Maura McCarthy Kroehler (husband Jay Kroehler) and Brian McCarthy (fiancAC. Ashley David); her beloved grandsons, Jamison and Brayden McCarthy, as well as her loving extended family and close friends. A memorial service will be held Thursday, May 7 at 7:00pm at the Bradshaw Celebration of Life Center in Stillwater. Join us for a gathering of family and friends prior to the service from 5:00-7:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Joseph's Home For Children, a program of Catholic Charities of Minneapolis and St. Paul-- http://www.cctwincities.org.
