Of Stillwater, MN went to her heavenly home on June 12, 2021 at the age of 103.  Her gentle and loving spirit will forever be a treasured gift to all who knew her.  She was born to Annetta and Harm Frerichs in Beatrice, NE in 1918.  She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and lived most of her life in the Beatrice area.

She married Henry Gebhards in 1935, to this union 3 daughters were born.  During their marriage, they farmed and owned a car and machinery repair garage.  Henry passed in 1977.

In 1984 Katie married Edwin Pfister and moved to his family farm near Steinauer, NE.  Ed has 5 children.  He passed in 2007.

At the age of 88, she moved to Stockton, MO to live with her daughter Delores.  There, she enjoyed watching the cattle and chickens on the ranch and looking at the beautiful lake view.  At the age of 100, she moved to Stillwater, MN to live with her daughter Arlinda.  She enjoyed her family and the 4 seasons of MN.

Katie’s lifelong hobbies included gardening, canning, baking, dancing, playing cards, quilting, sewing and church activities.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 granddaughters and all 6 of her siblings.  Survivors include her daughters, Delores Garrels of Stockton, MO, Wanieta Schroeder of Plymouth, NE, Arlinda Kolby of Stillwater, MN; stepchildren, Robert, Lloyd (Debbie), Paul (Teresa) Pfister, Elaine (Todd) Tegeler, and Eileen (Rod) Schmale; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

To complete Katie’s circle of life, the service is at Zion Lutheran Church of Pickrell, NE on July 30th at 2:00 PM.
