Kay Romness Shores, age 66, of Stillwater, MN peacefully passed away at Methodist Hospital on December 2, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Born December 19, 1950 in Mound, MN, she was preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Shirley Romness.
Kay attended Mound High school, graduating in 1968 and was still connected with many of her high school classmates. She attended the University of Wisconsin-Stout where she received her bachelor's degree in Home Economics and her master's degree in Guidance Counseling. Kay started teaching in Amery, WI and then moved to Osceola, WI where she taught Home Economics, and later did guidance counseling in the middle school. She retired from teaching and moved to Stillwater, MN. where she was very involved in the community. Kay participated in activities at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, enjoyed a regular yoga class, a Wednesday coffee group; worked at the Community Kitchen, participated in Lakselaget and was always available as a volunteer. Kay thrived being surrounded by her friends and family.
Skydiving, downhill skiing and traveling wherever her passport would take her, created many fond memories for Kay . Some of those trips were to Norway, Sweden,Israel, France and Switzerland.
Kay was a wonderful mom to Kristine Bodenburg. (Corby), Alex Shores (Autumn Wall) She especially loved being "Bae" to McCoy (3) and Knox (1) Bodenburg.
Kay will be missed as the older sister of Mary Somers (Don), Diane Gavic (Don) and David Romness (Debby).
The family thanks all the friends who have helped Kay in her fight against breast cancer,including the staff at Lakeview Memorial, Regions and Methodist hospitals.
A celebration of Kay's life is planned for Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at 11AM with visitation 1 hour prior at Our Savior's Lutheran Church 1616 Olive St. W. Stillwater, MN
A luncheon reception will follow at the Lowell Inn in Stillwater.
