Keith Johnson

Keith B. Johnson, of St. Paul, formerly of St. Croix Falls, WI, passed away November 1, 2017. Keith was born November 18, 1942 in Amery, WI to Henry and Myrtle (Solum) Johnson.
Keith was raised in Centuria, WI where his parents owned and operated Johnson's Drug Store. He graduated from Unity High School in 1961 and University of Wisconsin at River Falls with a degree in education. For more than 35 years, Keith was a dedicated teacher in the St. Croix Falls School District, retiring in 2000, and continuing to substitute teach for several years.
He married Mary Bentley in Green Bay, WI on April 10, 1976. Together they had two children, with whom they took weeks-long car trips and smaller adventures. Keith was a warm and loving husband and father, quick to blow on wounds and dole out hugs.
Keith loved the outdoors. He canoed. He camped. He hiked. He painted landscapes and wildlife. His summers were planned with the best days left open for trips to Crex Meadows or floating from St. Croix to Osceola. His winters were spent cross country skiing and creating elaborate sledding runs for his kids.
Keith was very active in the St. Croix Falls Lions Club, serving in various capacities for 40 years, planning the annual Halloween penny carnival and chartering the Deer Park and Dresser Lions Club. In 2011 he received the Melvin Jones Award for his commitment to Lionism.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his furry retirement companion, Ellie, a miniature schnauzer.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Mary, of Roseville; children, Jenna (Mark) Brouwer and Adam (Liz Wiggen) Johnson, both of Minneapolis; and grandson, Henrik Brouwer.
Services will be held 2PM Saturday, November 11, 2017 at BRADSHAW CELEBRATION OF LIFE CENTER, 2800 Curve Crest Blvd, Stillwater, with visitation one hour prior to service and a time of fellowship to follow.
Memorials to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or Crex Meadows preferred.
